A person or entity authorized to accept service of process for an entity.
The registered agent is a requirement in the Articles of Incorporation for an entity. A person or entity must be listed as the agent who will receive service of process (a lawsuit) for the entity. In many cases this is simply an owner or the president or CEO. If your business operates in more than one state, a registered agent must be in each state where the business operates. The registered agent may be served at the registered office (which is also required in the articles).
